Introduction

As part of the wider services offered to clients, Jacobs provides project management expertise for construction projects of all types. This is of particular relevance to clients undertaking multi disciplinary developments such as hotels and industrial complexes where the number of individual consultants, contractors, subcontractors and suppliers require control and management.

For all projects, management systems are introduced including cost plans, budgets and programmes which allow financial and progress monitoring of activities. During the design development phase key dates are set for different work packages which allow design development to be frozen and cost estimates to be progressively refined.

Projects

Prudential Hotel, Hong Kong

Client: The Prudential Hotel/ Mall Ltd

We provided project management and consulting civil and structural engineer services for this hotel situated above a shopping complex. This hotel which has 430 guest rooms, is a 12-storey addition in reinforced concrete and structural steelwork to the existing commercial centre. The hotel facilities include a bar, restaurant, business centre, meeting rooms and one floor of executive rooms. The hotel has a high standard of finish including an attractive granite clad facade, and glass observation lifts. There is direct access to the shopping centre form the hotel.

ASD School Improvement Programme Phase 4, Hong Kong

Client: Architectural Services Department, Hong Kong Government

Full project management services were provided for 127 primary, secondary and special schools, to meet the full scope of the works requires the provision of upto 1000m2 of additional accommodation per school, in the form of new annexes and rooftop extensions. This includes the provision of 8 project management staff and secondment of over 100 professional, technical and clerical staff.

The Ellipsis, Hong Kong

Client: Dorfit Properties Ltd

Jacobs provided project management, structural and geotechnical engineering for this 27 storey luxury apartment building in Happy Valley, Hong Kong. There are 79 furnished apartments each with internet, satellite and plasma TV services. Designed by US architect Skidmore Owings & Merrill, it features an elliptical glass curtain wall tower on top of a 4 level granite-clad podium.

ASD School Improvement Programme Final Phase, Hong Kong

Client: Architectural Services Department

Full project management services are being provided for the upgrading and extensions to over 300 existing primary, secondary and special schools throughout Hong Kong. This includes the provision of 17 project management staff and secondment of over 50 professional, technical and clerical staff.
